How should I care for my mouth after a tooth extraction?
After a tooth extraction, follow these guidelines to help ensure proper healing:
- Bite gently on a gauze pad to control bleeding.
- Avoid using a straw, as it can disturb the blood clot.
- Keep your head elevated, especially when sleeping.
- Stick to soft foods and avoid hot, spicy, or crunchy items.
- Avoid smoking, as it can delay healing.
If you experience severe pain, swelling, or any concerns, please contact us immediately.
How long does the anesthesia last after my dental procedure?
The effects of local anesthesia typically last 1-3 hours after your procedure. It’s normal to feel numb during this time, but once it wears off, any discomfort can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. If the numbness lasts longer or if you experience any unusual symptoms, please contact us.
What can I do for tooth pain?
If you’re experiencing tooth pain, here are a few steps to help manage it:

- Use over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, following the instructions on the label.
- Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek near the painful area to help reduce swelling.
- Avoid very hot, cold, or sugary foods and drinks that may irritate the tooth.
